Wow. You really do learn something new everyday. Who would have thought the way we consume milk was so different.

Here is my tribute to our household method of milk consumption. I dedicate this tribute to my crazy gal pals Christi, Jami and Julia who have either never seen milk packaged in such a fashion, or think we use devices that look like breasts for milk consumption up North here in the crazy city of Ajax, Ontario.

Please note that for health reasons (like, better taste) we are currently drinking milk of the chocolate variety.

first, buy your milk...

next, pull out one of the three plastic bags contained inside...

stuff the milk bag into the "milk container", snip off the end, pour and serve (Milk mustache optional.)

As an aside, I took AC's advice about how to handle my treat monster and hid a bag of Doritos in a cereal box. This doesn't look too suspicisous does it?

So interesting how different things are because of an imaginary border line. Huh...never knew that about the milk! My dad's side came to the states after living in CAN for years, of course they probably got their milk out of the buckets they used to milk the cows earlier in the day.

My goodness I have never seen milk like that in my life. Pretty cool. Amazing how different things can be.

I've never seen milk served that way, either. We have jugs or cartons here. STRANGE PEOPLE UP THERE!!

Milk, in plastic bags? Ewww, think of the chemicals (phthalates etc) leaching out into the milk. We have glass bottles here in the UK! And it's delivered to the doorstep too!

I'm realizing that this week, I've been absolutely horrible about leaving comments! It's been a crazy week though, so that's my excuse :-)

It's funny to me that you guys have milk in bags, I've never seen that before either!! It's so freakin' interesting!! So I guess I'm going to have to come visit now, just so I can say I've had chocolate milk out of a bag ;-)

By the way, do you know why it's in a bag rather than a pitcher or jug? Just curious.

You might want to invest in a larger cereal box!

Hey, so why don't you just pour the milk into the pitcher, since you're using it? That seems like it would be easier than trying to make sure the milk doesn't spill out of the bag. That is certainly strange. I wonder if the milk stays fresher longer if it's in bags as opposed to cartons or jugs?

I'm with everyone on the wonderment of milk in bags. I agree with Christi that wouldn't it be easier just to pour the milk into the container itself?

Does all of Canada drink milk in this way, or just your particular province?

That's trippy. It never occurred to me either. We have gallon plastic jugs and we just open the lid take off the seal and use it straight from the bottle. Well, we usually pour it in a glass first. I read the comment from Joanna. We used to have glass bottles and delivered to our doorstep but they stopped doing that in the sixties I think. I'd love it!! Is this a comment or a blog?

It's definitely an Eastern thing. I noticed when we visited my inlaws last year out in Toronto the milk bags and we were very shocked they were still around ! We live in Vancouver British Columbia and haven't had milk in bag out this way for at least 25 years or so.All our milk out this way comes in cartons or plastic jugs!

I always think its odd that the americans don't have bags of milk like that. I swear I am going to buy a cow, we go through 4 litres in 2 days. I have a 3yr old and 11 month old that are addicted to it.

We can no longer get milk in bags here in Winnipeg either. When I was 4 or 5 we visited friends at a dairy farm. When I discovered that milk came from cows, I stopped drinking it! I only started again when we got back home and I could drink the milk that came from stores.
