| Letting My Hair Down |
Last weekend while the ‘rents were visiting, my dad looked over at me and asked, “When was the last time you let your hair down?”. I sort of gave him funny look, before I realized that since Ava died, I haven’t worn my hair down.
I’ve never been a hair up, pony tail type of gal, but something must have registered in my teeny tiny brain that letting my hair down would symbolize some form of fun or pleasure that I didn’t want myself to have.
Tonight I am letting that go. I am letting my hair down and Mark is taking me dancing.
(Retro ‘80’s anyone?)
If anyone has any blue eye shadow, shoulder pads or hairspray that I can borrow to help complete my ensemble, that would be great!

Thanks, and don’t wait up!Labels: It's All About Me |

I think I actually have some...hidden away in a dark storage box lol. Sounds like fun! let your hair down and have a drink (or 2) for me lol.
I hope you have a ton of fun tonight, and just remember, you can never have too much hairspray!!
I have shoulder pads! Trey keeps finding them shoved in drawers when I cut them out of things and wondering what in the world they are! He thinks I use them to stuff my bra!
Oh girl, that sounds like fun. You should let you hair down and have some fun. You need that. I hope you guys have lots of fun. Wish I could go cause that sounds like lots of fun. CIAO girl. Have a drink for me.
Christi! Is Trey blind? You're so boobilicious, you have no need to require shoulder pads. Me...well...we wont go there.
hello i read your hubbie's blog and thought i would drop by yours as i wanted to see the video of ava and for some reason it didn't work with my mac computer from mark's blog.
so i thought i would say hello and that you guys are amazing to be able to cry, laugh, and share with such strength and beauty, i love how your are honouring your daughter's life with the box on the dresser, to the run. i hate when people don't talk or remember about traumatic things like that, as i honestly believe that people need to find and go through there own rituals in order to process, remember, and to heal. i am so sorry you had to go through such a horrible thing.
we have just starting thinking of the how baby thing, as i am 32 now, and your experience has been very real to both me and my spouse.
anyways enough of that and hope you have a good night dancing! dawn
Karla, good thing I don't have any of those things you mentioned but I'm glad you are letting your hair down. You deserve it!! :) Love Sara
Have fun! I'm a little jealous. Richard won't dance at all, even in the living room all by ourselves.
Karla , I have all 3 of those things, but I dont think you need them. You go girl and have a blast.
Love MOm
Hey babe, the 80's was my prime time! However, I dressed more on the preppy side, as that was an alternate choice at the time.
I don't know anyone who dressed like your lovely model there. Although sadly, I am sure some people did.
Tell the band/DJ to crank up the volume and rock out! 80's music is great for dancing!
Oh how fun! I graduated high school in '87 (yes, I am 10 years older than you), so I lived those '80s first hand.
Hey how fun. We are having a 80's night at our neighbors on the 6th of August send the leg warmers my way.
i do agree with you that wearing my hair down is sort of a symbolic gesture of letting myself having fun.
i used to wear my hair down all the time, but since i took up this master's study and this huge responsiblity of buying our first property, i've not been wearing my hair down for months. i know i won't be able to let my hair down, until i have finished my study, sorted out the apartment and got a job.
but you are different, you deserve to have some chill-out good time. hope you had a ball at the fancy party, it sounds fun!!
You deserve to enjoy yourself so do it!
